In 1881, the Committee of Lloyd’s decided that a network of Agencies should be established to protect the interests of underwriters.

Today, Lloyd’s Agencies form the world’s most extensive surveying and adjusting network. There are more than 680 Lloyd’s Agents and sub-Agents located in 175 countries around the world. They provide 24-hour year-round services to the global Insurance industry and its customers.
 

Lloyd’s Agents are appointed on the basis of their:

Proven expertise and experience in marine surveying, particularly cargo. Their skills also extend to other classes such as non-marine, aviation and even personal lines such as travel insurance.

James Finlay Ltd. now known as JF (Bangladesh) Ltd. have been acting as Lloyd’s Agents i.e. Agents for Lloyd’s of London, since 1933 in this part of the world.

As Lloyd’s Agents, we are the oldest survey firm in Bangladesh. With our head office located in Chittagong and our two sub-agencies situated at Dhaka & Khulna, the two other major cities of the Country, we are capable of rendering services throughout the entire territory of Bangladesh.

Apart from being the Lloyd's Agents, we also represent numerous overseas insurance companies such as W.K. Webster, London & Singapore, Ceemis, U.K., Ceesam, Paris, Tokyo Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Company Ltd, Japan, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd, Japan & many others as their surveyors in Bangladesh.

We are also the cargo superintendent on behalf of the United Nations World Food Programme, Rome, since 1972 in relation to all their chartered and liner terms shipments coming to Bangladesh.
